INT. CHRIS’S LIVING ROOM - DAY

Thirty-four-second intro. Characters playing board game at
Chris’s house. Introduce each character one by one. Jen
Zimmerman. Chris Bacon. Paige Turner. Keri Oakey.

FADE OUT:

FADE IN:

Still graphic. Senior year. May, 2019. Graduation Day.

INT. CHRIS’S LIVING ROOM - DAY

Chris, Paige, Keri, and Jen are all gathered and reminiscing
cherished college memories after watching the commercial they
made.

CHRIS
You know, making the commercial has
to be one of my favorite memories.

JEN
Agreed.

KERI
So true. Even though it took
FOREVER to edit it.
(chuckle)

CHRIS
Hey. You can’t rush art.

PAIGE
That was such a good commercial.
Certainly one of the highlights of
the last four years.

CHRIS
It’s hard to believe we graduate
today.

JEN
Speaking of graduating, what time
is it?

Chris takes his phone out of his pocket to check the time.
Realizing they are late, a sudden look of terror and urgency
sweeps over his face.

CHRIS
Shoot. It’s almost 11:00 a.m.

KERI
Oh, man. We gotta go.

FADE OUT.

EXT. CLEARY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS - DAY

Aerial shot of campus water tower.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. CLEARY UNIVERSITY - DAY

The group is gathered together on lawn in cap and gowns at
graduation. Chris notices his dad (off camera) and he wants
to get a photo of the group. Chris motions back to his dad.

CHRIS
Oh, hey. My dad wants us to pose
for a group photo.

Chris points to camera. The girls turn, wave, and say...

JEN, PAIGE, & KERI
Hi, Mr. Bacon.

Hand comes into frame from video camera and waves back at
girls along with thumbs up.

MR. BACON (O.S.)
Hi, Kids! Congratulations. Alright.
Smile.

Group poses for photo.

CHRIS
Cool. Excuse me for a second. I’ll
be right back.

PAIGE
Hey. I’m coming with you. I want to
say hello to your mom.

Chris and Paige exit scene. Keri and Jen look at one another.

JEN
I can’t believe how fast the last
four years have gone by?

KERI
I know, right? And today it just
dawned on me that your first name
and the first letter of your last
name together is Jen Z.

JEN
It is, indeed. I’m Jen-erational.

KERI
How the hell did I miss that?
Laughing, Jen and Keri hug. Following two lines spoken during
embrace.

JEN
Oh, I’m going to miss you so much,
Keri.

KERI
I’m going to miss you, too. How am
I going to function without the
three of you?

Jen and Keri release from hug. Keri loops her arm with Jen’s.
They begin walking slowly towards camera.

KERI CONT’D
So, tell me a story. Are you and
Chris going to make it?

JEN
Well, I’ve made a decision
(pause)
I’m ...

Chris and Paige approach - inadvertently interrupting Jen.
Keri smiles empathetically as she locks eyes with Jen. Jen
reticently smiles back.

PAIGE
So, here we are, guys. The last
time we’ll all be together ‘til who
knows when.

CHRIS
Aw, man. Don’t say that.

KERI
I’m going to miss you guys so much.

The four embrace in a group hug as music crescendos. Paige
departs scene, followed by Keri, leaving only Chris and Jen.
The two are holding hands.

JEN
I need to be going, too. I have to
take some photos with my sister and
family.

CHRIS
Yeah, yeah, um. Me, too.
(pause)
Can we meet at the library? Half
hour?

JEN
Yeah. Sounds good.

CHRIS
Okay.

Chris turns to walk away. Jen softly grabs Chris’s sleeve and
gently pulls him back.

JEN
Chris. Wait.

She softly kisses Chris. Not a monumental big-screen kiss,
but rather, a heartfelt I’m going to miss the hell out of
you, goodbye kiss. As they unlock their embrace, Chris says
with his usual calm confidence...

CHRIS
I’ll see you soon.
(smiling assuredly)

Jen smiles back with a slight head nod. They depart.

FADE OUT:

EXT. LIBRARY - DAY

Frontal shot of library facade.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. LIBRARY - DAY

Chris is sitting at their usual study table. He appears
restless and uneasy. Show clock as many minutes tick away.
Chris looks at watch. A couple of hours have passed.

CUT TO:

Footsteps approaching. It’s Jen. She sits at table with Chris
and reaches her right hand across table.

Chris extends left hand and they embrace. Both smile. Jen
then fades away to show no one is really sitting there. It’s
Chris’s imagination.

Chris stares straight ahead when a thought comes to mind. He
straightens his posture and sits up in chair. He then peers
under the table and finds a letter taped to the underside
addressed to him.

Chris sits back up with letter in hand. Just staring at it
for a moment. He then opens the letter, which reads, Dear
Chris. Looks like we made it to the end. Love always, Jen.
Chris drops letter on table and stares straight ahead. Many
thoughts race through his mind.

DISSOLVE TO:

SERIES OF SHOTS:

EXT. GRADUATION CEREMONY - DAY

Slow push close up shot of Jen at graduation.
Slow push close up shot of Chris at graduation.

INTERCUT - EXT. ON CAMPUS - DAY

Chris and Jen sitting at library talking, walking on campus.

INTERCUT EXT. CAR DRIVING - DAY

Jen is driving to California. Looks at passenger seat and
imagines Chris is there. Shot of Chris sitting in passenger
seat. Jen smiles and then looks away. When she looks back, no
one is sitting there.

INTERCUT INT. LIBRARY - DAY

Chris sitting at table. Slow drift away from close up of
Chris. Chris stares downward to his left.

INTERCUT - EXT. CAR DRIVING - DAY

Jen is driving off into sunset as music fades.
